Feb. 18 Update
The women’s tennis team has a long season ahead of them as they work to defend the State Champs title they earned last year.
Freshman Mallory LeNoir rolled her ankle two weeks a go and is just starting to hit this week. She should be ready to play when the team heads to Alexander City, Ala., in early March to compete in the Central Alabama Spring Mixer.
Freshman Beth Berrian-Moreland was hit by a car near South Campus after a morning practice in December. She now has a plate and screws in her foot but is recovering well. Her cast has been removed and she’s now in a walking boot. She will hopefully be ready to hit the court by March.
Freshman Kara Smith has joined the team as a scholarship volleyball player after playing high school tennis in Wakulla, Fla. She has a wonderful attitude that makes her a great addition to the team.
Nateesha Hurtt played for the Stars in 2008-09 then took a couple years off. We are glad to have her back on the court as a part of our team.
Returning #2 and #4 State Champs Zorica Djuric and Ekaterina Vezhenkova will be battling through their sophomore year at #1 and #2 singles and as a team in #1 doubles.
