The Florida State College at Jacksonville's athletic department participated this past Saturday in the I'm a Star Foundation's annual "Let's Move Jax" event. Over half of the departments student athletes from the BlueWave teams took part of running some of the days events. The BlueWave spent the day running several different activity stations including flag football, basketball, volleyball, kickball, Frisbee throwing and even joined in on the line dancing.
Inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move initiative, students in the school district partnered with local organizations for a one day event. The purpose of the "Let's Move Jax" is to get people in the community moving and active. Founder and Executive Director Betty Burney presented a "community service" award to FSCJ Athletics for their four year dedication to the Let's Move Jax initiative. Over a 1,000 people from the community participated in events throughout the day.
